About the Show

Welcome to “Un-seen Legacies Of Childhood”, a new podcast making serious noise about the importance of self-esteem, and our environment, particularly in the younger years.

Hosted by Sonia Seekunto, the 6-part series chews the fat on everything that contributes to self-esteem and our choices later in life, exploring the pain of feeling unseen, ignored and what that does to your sense of self. How our self-esteem moulds our choices, how it shapes our lives and why it’s so damn important!

Each episode explores a different piece of the puzzle, from the role of schools on a child’s sense of identity, their sense of their own capacity, to shining a light on those from very different and sometimes challenging backgrounds.

Sonia Seekunto

Temporarily fostered at birth for 6 months, moved countries at 5, moved 3 schools in 2 years, heavily bullied in all 3 schools, moved countries at 7, low self-worth throughout the teenage years leading to toxic relationships, married at 33, divorced by 35 - Sonia understands how deeply our childhood experiences shape the adult we become. It's taken her to the age of 50 to finally use her voice to help others tell their stories of courage and adversity to both - help raise awareness of the importance of giving children the right support early on, and understanding why some struggle more than others to reach their full potential.
